Release Notes

What's new in Timely.

v0.1.0

April 2026

Timely now brings your Apple Reminders and calendar events together in one view. No more switching between apps to see what’s on your plate.

What's in this release

Apple Reminders

Your reminders, right in your calendar

Reminders now appear alongside your events in the week view, right at their due time. Everything you need to do today, in one place.

Drag to reschedule

Need more time? Just drag a reminder to a new slot or a different day. It saves back to Apple Reminders instantly.

Complete with a click

Tap the circle to check off a reminder. It fills with your list’s color — a small, satisfying moment every time.

Everything at a glance

Click any reminder to see all its details in the sidebar — due date, priority, notes, location, links, and more.

One timeline for everything

Up Next now combines your reminders and events into a single timeline, sorted by time. No more checking two places.

In your menubar too

Reminders show up in the menubar alongside your events. View them together, or keep them separate — your call.

Search everything at once

Hit ⌘K and search across events and reminders together. Results are grouped into upcoming and past so you find what you need fast.

Quick actions on right-click

Right-click any reminder to view its details, mark it done, or open it in Apple Reminders.

Show and hide by list

Your reminder lists appear in the calendar filter just like your calendars. Collapse or toggle them to focus on what matters.

Control what you see

A new Reminders & Tasks tab in settings lets you manage your connection and choose which lists to show.

Ready from day one

Timely walks you through connecting Reminders during setup, so everything works the moment you open the app.

Polish & Improvements

Fluid animations

Toggling calendars on and off now feels alive — events gracefully fade in and out instead of popping.

Tidier filters

Calendar groups and reminder lists collapse independently now. Keep your sidebar clean and focused.

Adapts to any window size

The titlebar rearranges itself on smaller windows so nothing gets hidden or cut off.

Pixel-perfect now line

The current time indicator is exactly where it should be. A small fix, but you’ll notice.

New icon for macOS Tahoe

A beautiful liquid glass app icon that looks right at home on macOS 26, complete with dark and tinted variants.

Gentle update nudge

When a new version is ready, a quiet pill appears at the bottom of the week view. No popups, no interruptions.

Smarter today jump

Pressing T or clicking Today now scrolls to the current hour, so you land right where your day is happening.

  • Drag to create new reminders right in the week view

v0.0.1

April 2026

The first public release of Timely, a fast and beautiful calendar for macOS.

Timely reads directly from your Apple Calendar using EventKit, so all your iCloud, Google, Exchange, and CalDAV calendars show up instantly with zero setup. No account creation, no cloud sync to a third party. Your data stays on your Mac.

What's in this release

Three calendar views

Switch between Week, Month, and Year views. Week view supports configurable time intervals from 15 minutes to 3 hours, with infinite vertical scrolling and multi-timezone display.

Quick event creation

Click any day number’s plus icon, press N, use the sidebar’s add button, or click and drag in the week view to create events. New events default to the next 15-minute mark and use your chosen default calendar.

Smart search

Open the command palette with Cmd+K and start typing to search across all your events. Fuzzy matching finds results even with typos. Search by title, location, notes, or calendar name. Try natural language like “meeting tomorrow” or “lunch friday”. Results are grouped into “Up next” and “Past” so you find what matters first.

Event details panel

Click any event to see and edit its details in the sidebar. Change title, time, date, calendar, location, URL, and recurrence. All-day events get their own preview in the expandable all-day bar. Changes save automatically for existing events.

Meeting quick actions

Events with Zoom, Google Meet, or Teams links show a Join button. Events with a location show a Navigate button that opens Google Maps. Meeting Notes lets you attach markdown notes to any event, saved as local files you own.

Invited event handling

Events organized by someone else are protected from accidental edits. Trying to drag or resize shows a dialog with options to contact the organizer or open the event in Calendar.app for RSVP.

Recurring events

Edit or delete a single occurrence or all future events. The familiar “This event only” / “This and future events” dialog appears when you modify a recurring event.

Real-time sync

Changes made in Apple Calendar, iCloud, or any connected account appear in Timely within seconds. No manual refresh needed.

Command palette

Cmd+K opens a searchable command palette for everything: create events, navigate views, undo/redo, toggle theme, open settings, check for updates, and more. Type > to filter commands only.

Keyboard-first navigation

N to create, T for today, H/J/K/L or arrow keys to move between weeks, Cmd+Z to undo, Escape to close. Designed for people who live in their keyboard.

Dark mode

Full dark mode with automatic system detection, or set it manually. The entire UI adapts, including event colors, the frosted glass titlebar, and all dialogs.

Menubar quick view

A tray icon shows your next event’s title. Click it for a popup with today’s schedule, quick actions, and navigation to the main app.

Onboarding

A short setup wizard walks you through theme selection, schedule preferences, calendar access, and default calendar. Takes about 30 seconds.

Auto-update

Timely checks for updates on launch and notifies you in the sidebar when a new version is available. You can also check manually from Settings or the command palette.
